This marks the sixth year that Packimpex supports a carbon neutral project

Underscoring our commitment to environmental sustainability, Packimpex has chosen to support a wind turbine project in India to offset our carbon emissions in 2017.

The project, which started five years ago, runs two windparks in the state of Rajasthan in north-western India, in the extremely arid district of Pratapgarh and Jaisalmer. The windparks save carbon emissions by replacing electricity from fossil fuels with renewable wind power, while also improving living conditions for the local communities.

On top of that, the project also promotes social and environmental programmes. Rajasthan is a region that suffers from frequent droughts. To help the population and environment overcome water scarcity, the project supports farmers and community members in implementing conservation schemes such as rain water harvesting, dam check-ups and new irrigation techniques.

“Sustainability has long been one of Packimpex’s key values and we achieved CO2 neutrality in 2011. We recognize that as a relocation service provider, we have an impact on the environment. That is why we find it important to support carbon neutrality projects that are beyond our industry and community”, says Packimpex CEO Damian Aebischer.

Packimpex is proud to support this wind energy programme in India and to help ensure quality education, achieve gender equality and advance economic growth while promoting social and environmental projects in the region.

In previous years, Packimpex has partnered with projects to improve energy efficiency in South Africa (2013), help community members in Bamako, Mali switch to efficient stoves (2014), and support wind energy in Turkey (2015-2016).
