Switzerland’s French-speaking area is popular for transferees and Packimpex is a key player when it comes to relocations here
With locations in Geneva, Vevey and Lausanne, nearly half of our offices are found in the French-speaking part of Switzerland, a fact that underscores how important the Swiss Romandy region is for our business. The teams in these offices have grown over the years and in 2019, we relocated two teams to new workspaces that accommodate this new and expected growth.
The 2019 Packimpex Swiss Housing Market Report revealed that Geneva, though often considered to have the highest housing prices, is slightly more affordable than Zurich, which is ranked first when it comes to the cost of rent. Geneva, however, still has an extremely low vacancy rate – just 0.57% – and this makes it very challenging to find suitable housing, particularly if you are new to Switzerland and unfamiliar with the neighbourhoods outside of the city centre that still offer the essentials that expats appreciate.

Head of Performance Management Carole Javet
“Our team members speak French and English and their local expertise, combined with their international awareness, makes them uniquely qualified to offer the support and services that transferees require when moving to this area of Switzerland. Many have relocated to Switzerland themselves so they know exactly how to assist others through this process. We make sure transferees find a comfortable place to call home and that they do everything they need to enjoy their stay here, whether they are here for a short- or long-term assignment,” says Director DSP Service Delivery Carole Javet.
The report is a great place to start to learn about housing options in and around Geneva, Lausanne and Vevey, but for home-finding support that takes into consideration your specific needs or the expectations of your transferees, then speaking to Naomi Dobias, our Business Development Manager in the Romandy region, will lead to the best possible outcome.
