Over 40 years of Packimpex history

Since 1977, Packimpex has celebrated several major milestones – both in the Swiss-born company’s own history, and in the moving and relocation industry. From mergers, new partnerships and re-branding, becoming the Swiss market leader in moving services, to expanding to serve Germany, Packimpex’s timeline tells the story of a business that evolves and grows to achieve its mission of meeting customers’ needs and offering the best service possible.

New headquarters

The Packimpex headquarters was established in Thörishaus near Berne, Switzerland in 1989. Packimpex HQ is still located there today. The facilities include a storage capacity of 3,000 m2 and an office space of 2,000 m2.

Relocation Solutions Group

In 2003, the family business evolved to the Relocation Solutions Group as the offering was expanded to provide destination services under the umbrella of Network Relocation Ltd. in Basel. Through that sister company, it opened offices throughout Switzerland and became the market leader in the provision of destination services.

2005

Temp-Solutions Ltd.

Temp-Solutions Ltd. was founded to encompass all the temporary solutions offered, such as rental furniture, temporary accommodation and corporate apartment management.

2007

Our Swiss footprint

In 2007, Packimpex opened an office in Zug. This new city rounded off our list of Swiss locations, which also includes Basel, Berne, Geneva, Lausanne, Lugano, Neuchâtel, Vevey, and Zurich.

2008

The second generation

After 30 years of active leadership, Ernst Jörg handed over ownership and management of the Relocations-Solutions Group to his son Marcel Jörg on 1 January 2008. The group continued to expand in a way that demanded a radical change in its market image. In 2009, the decision to re-brand the company and to change its corporate identity was taken.

2010

The new brand

October 2010 signalled the beginning of a new era. This is the date that Switzerland's leading one-stop shop began providing simply the best tailored relocation solutions for individuals and international companies and their employees under a new corporate identity.

2011

Carbon neutrality achieved

2011 was a big year for Packimpex. The company became completely carbon neutral; acquired Altpeter, a logistics company in Freiburg, Germany; and launched the Packimpex Switzerland Hub.

2016

Enhancing destination services in Switzerland

In June 2016, Packimpex acquired GetSet, a respected provider of destination services in Neuchâtel, ensuring that we continue to cover all of Switzerland for our private and corporate customers. Adding this team of local experts was an important step in strengthening our “glocal” services and demonstrated our commitment to offering in-house solutions to our clients in Switzerland and beyond.

2017

Expanding across Europe

In July 2017, Packimpex’s moving and storage division merged with Gosselin Mobility, a company that handles international moving and relocation services throughout Europe, eastern Europe, Russia, the Caucasus, and Central Asia. By partnering with Gosselin, Packimpex ensured that its moving business is a strong pan-European organisation that continues to respond to the increasing customer demands in technology, legal and compliance while maintaining its competitiveness.

Expanding across Europe

2019

Acquisition of UTS Relocation in Germany

In 2019, Packimpex underscored its European expansion by purchasing the controlling interest in UTS Relocation GmbH, the destination and immigration service specialist based in Frankfurt. The partnership between Packimpex and UTS Relocation strengthens the offering of destination services as well as visa and immigration support for existing and new customers in Germany and beyond. This milestone marked an important step in Packimpex’s plan to expand its business across European borders.

2020

UTS Relocation becomes Packimpex Germany

In January 2020, UTS Relocation GmbH was renamed Packimpex GmbH, representing the start of a new chapter for Packimpex in Germany. Under the name Packimpex, we now offer companies in Germany and beyond the same world-class customer service, trusted quality and excellence that our customers know and expect from the Packimpex brand.

2020

Packimpex expands into Belgium

With the acquisition of the destination and immigration service activities of Gosselin Mobility NV in Belgium, Packimpex continues growing beyond Swiss borders. The strategic move strengthens relocation service offerings for existing and new customers in Belgium. These services include home-search, settling-in, immigration and departure assistance.

2021

Growing in Belgium, The Netherlands and the UK

Demonstrating our firm commitment to our European expansion strategy, 2021 was a year of bold moves. In February we proudly publicised the integration the Belgium relocation company Bright Expats SRL into the Packimpex Group. In April we opened Packimpex Netherlands BV with offices in Amsterdam, and in July we announced the opening of Packimpex UK Ltd. with offices in London.
