#EachforEqual: Empowering employees and certifying equal pay for equal work

This year’s theme for International Women’s Day, 8 March, is “an equal world is an enabled world”. Packimpex believes that gender equality in the workplace enables employees to share and listen to different perspectives, to work together and to help our business offer customers the best service possible. Diversity – not only when it comes to gender but also nationalities and age – can be found at every level of our company.

In September 2015, the United Nations unveiled its 15-year plan for transforming the world by 2030. Among these 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) is gender equality – #5 on the list. Packimpex is dedicated to helping the UN accomplish this goal by taking actions in line with our own value of empowering employees. Several recent achievements underscore how Packimpex contributes to advancing gender equality in our industry, and for our present and future.

#1 – Promoting gender equality in management positions

At Packimpex, we believe that the entire company benefits from diversity in leadership roles. Men and women are equally represented in management positions, allowing colleagues across the organisation to experience different leadership styles and work with role models with different backgrounds and areas of expertise. This variety of perspectives and approaches is beneficial to customers as well because it sparks internal discussions that lead to innovative solutions and improved services.

#2 – Equal pay for equal work

Thanks to its commitment to equal pay, Switzerland received the 2018 UN Public Service Award. The Logib programme was developed for the Swiss Federal Office for Gender Equality and played an essential role in demonstrating this commitment to eliminating the gender wage gap. Packimpex used the Logib self-test to compare the salaries of male and female employees and discovered that its payment policy supports equal pay for equal work.

#3 – Empowering employees at Packimpex

As a market leader in international relocations, Packimpex is in the business of supporting expats who move to and from Switzerland, Germany and Belgium. Our employees often have their own experience as expats, which makes them uniquely qualified to assist our corporate and private customers. We have created the kind of work environment that welcomes individuals who have restarted their careers after raising a family, relocated to a new country or transitioned from a different industry. Their experiences are all valued additions to our company culture. We offer all our employees, regardless of gender, the development support and mentoring they need to achieve success at Packimpex.
